Owner & Lead Driving Instructor at Matty’s Driving School
After a decade in the telecom industry as a technician, trainer, and manager, Matty found his true calling: coaching and helping others. As the founder of Matty’s Driving School in Airdrie, Alberta, he brings a genuine, sincere nature and a unique blend of humor and heart to driver education. Matty is known for making learners feel comfortable and confident as they navigate the road to becoming safe, skilled drivers.
He remembers the incredible feeling of freedom that came with earning his driver’s license and is dedicated to helping students experience that same joy in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. His teaching philosophy? No two people learn the same way, and everyone has potential—it’s just a matter of finding the key to unlock it.
When Matty isn’t on the road teaching, he enjoys hiking, camping, photography, and road trips with his wife and two stepkids. And if you’re looking for a conversation starter, just ask him about his favorite food: pizza!
Alisa Spooner
Co-Founder of Matty’s Driving School
Alisa is the brilliant mind working behind the scenes at Matty’s Driving School. With a background in accounting and over a decade of experience in adult learning, she is an expert in managing projects from start to finish. Her analytical expertise perfectly complements Matty’s creative approach, making them a dynamic duo in delivering exceptional driver education.
As a mother of two teenagers, Alisa understands the concerns parents have when their kids start driving. That’s why she is dedicated to ensuring every parent feels confident and reassured about their child’s learning experience at Matty’s Driving School in Airdrie.
When Alisa isn’t managing the school, she enjoys hiking, camping, road trips, and teaching Jazzercise—her true passion. She’s even managed to get Matty to join a few classes!
Buster
Director of Belly Rubs at Matty’s Driving School
Buster is the heart and soul of Matty’s Driving School, proudly holding the title of Director of Belly Rubs. Known for his larger-than-life personality, Buster adds a touch of fun and warmth to the school. His favorite pastimes include stealing food, going for walks, and charming everyone he meets. If there’s food in the house, Buster will find it—he’s even mastered opening pantry doors, the warming drawer on the stove, and airtight containers.
When he’s not on a food hunt, Buster is always ready to help you unwind with his irresistible charm. Affectionately called “Budder” by the kids, he’s their best friend and unofficial mascot of Matty’s Driving School in Airdrie.
