Our Team

Matthew Spooner

Co-Founder - Lead Instructor

After spending the last decade in the telecom industry as a technician, trainer and manager, Matty discovered his true passion lies in coaching and helping others. Known for his genuine, sincere nature and his knack for making people feel comfortable, Matty brings a unique blend of humor and heart to his teaching. He remembers the incredible feeling of freedom that came with getting his driver’s license and is dedicated to helping others experience that same joy in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. When he’s not on the road, Matty enjoys hiking, camping, photography, and taking road trips with his wife and two stepkids. His teaching philosophy? No two people learn the same way, and everyone has potential—it’s all about finding the key to unlock it. And if you ever need a conversation starter with Matty, just ask him about his favorite food: pizza!

Alisa Spooner

Co-Founder

Alisa is the brilliant mind behind the scenes at Matty’s Driving School. With a background in accounting and a decade of experience in adult learning, she excels at overseeing projects from start to finish. Her analytical skills perfectly complement Matty’s creative approach, making them a dynamic team. As a mother of two teenagers, Alisa knows firsthand the anxiety parents feel when their kids start driving. That’s why she’s committed to ensuring that every parent feels confident and comfortable with their kids learning at Matty’s. When she’s not helping run the school, Alisa loves hiking, camping, and road trips. But her real passion? Teaching Jazzercise! She’s even managed to get Matty to a few classes.

Buster is the heart and soul of Matty’s Driving School, though he’s better known as the Director of Belly Rubs. A character in his own right and way too smart for his own good, Buster’s favorite activities include stealing food, going for walks, and—did we mention stealing food? If there’s food in the house, Buster will find it. He’s mastered opening pantry doors, the warming drawer on the stove, and even airtight containers. When the day is done, Buster is always ready to help you unwind with his irresistible charm. The kids affectionately call him “Budder” because he’s their best bud.
